Due to continued concerns about the potential spread of the coronavirus, the Monroe County government will continue operating with limited staff and limited hours through Wednesday, May 13 when Gov. Brian Kemp’s State of Emergency Order is set to expire.
In the meantime, citizens will continue to have access to the county recycling center locations and landfill. The recycling centers will continue to be open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The landfill will continue to be open 7:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. through 5 p.m. (cell area closes at 4 p.m.) Monday through Thursday, 7:30 p.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. through 4 p.m. (cell area closes at 3 p.m.) Friday and 7 a.m. to noon (cell area closes at 11 a.m.) Saturday.
However, citizens are asked to continue practicing social distancing and attempt to limit their number of visits to the centers out of respect for the attendants, many of whom are up in age and more vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus.
